Kelly Rutherford is grateful for the time she's had watching her two kids grow up.
The Gossip Girl actress went through a contentious six-year-long custody battle after splitting from her ex-husband, German businessman Daniel Giersch, in 2009. The two welcomed their son, Hermés, in 2006, a year after they got married, and their daughter, Helena, in 2009. Rutherford filed for divorce from Giersch when she was only 3 months pregnant with Helena.
What followed was a years-long custody case in which a Monaco judge eventually deigned Giersch full custody of their two kids in 2015, ordaining that they would have to live in Monaco — where Giersch resides — full time.
Since then, Rutherford retreated from the spotlight and made Monaco her permanent home, slowly making her comeback in early 2024 as she appeared at some fashion week shows.
