IN HIS STATE of the County speech on Feb. 28, Nassau Executive Bruce Blakeman described what he considered a successful first year in office, giving credit to law enforcement and the County Legislature for working with him on a number of initiatives to help bring some of his campaign promises to fruition.

Foundation hosts 7th annual 5K, to raise money for school grants
By BEN FIEBERT bfiebert@liherald.comWhen the clock strikes 8:30 a.m. on March 25, Hewlett Bay will be a beautiful backdrop for participants as they take off on an annual 5K run across East Rockaway for a good cause.
Gallagher said she hoped there would be a high turnout for this year’s run to provide EREF with funds to present to the East Rockaway Public Schools.
