1809-02-12: Lincoln is born in what is then Hardin County Kentucky, about three miles south of present-day Hodgenville, Kentucky.
1830-00-00: William G. Greene first meets Lincoln when he starts working for Denton Offutt at the Offut store, in New Salem, Illinois. According to William Herndon, “William G. Green[e] was hired to assist him, and between the two a life-long friendship sprang up."[1] Historian Michael Burlingame describes Greene as “a highly entertaining story teller.
