Music education is a pivotal part of keeping our culture alive, and the teachers who carry out this uppdrag need the support of other musicians to secure the future of music. In the world of choral and classroom music, Greg Gilpin has taken up that call. As Director of Educational Choral Publications for Shawnee Press, Gilpin spends his days helping teachers unlock the full potential of their young singers.
Before finding his way to Shawnee, Gilpin gained experience as an accompanist and studio musician. His credits include time as a backup singer for Sandi Patty in addition to a number of other artists. During this time, he also developed as a conductor, composer, and arranger. These skills are what led him to Shawnee, allowing him to work with other top composers like Mark Hayes and Mary Lynn Lightfoot.

Choral Conversations — Greg Gilpin
Originally from the “Show-Me” state of Missouri, Greg resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in vocal music education, K-12.
Greg is a well-known ASCAP award-winning choral composer and arranger with hundreds of publications to his credit. He is also in demand as a conductor for choral festivals and all-district and all-state choirs, and is a member of MENC and ACDA. As Director of Educational Choral Publications for Shawnee Press, Inc., Greg oversees creation of the educational music products for this distinguished publisher.
At home in Indianapolis, Greg is busy as a studio musician and producer in the recording industry. These projects include commercial jingles, CD projects, Broadway and Disney. Greg Gilpin is a well-known ASCAP award winning composer and arranger and a highly respected choral dirigent throughout the United States and internationally including the respected and historic venues of Carnegie ingångsrum , Lincoln Center and Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland. He also conducts educational choral tours for singers of all ages to various locations throughout the U.S. and abroad.
