In 1935 Ruszkowski went to Paris, where he became closer to the work of Cezanne and the countryside around Aix-en-Provence in the south of France. In 1939 he visited Versailles, but the threat of war in Europe affected his enthusiasm to paint and in 1940 he left France for England
