Hotel Kenmore Hall
Hotel in Manhattan, New York
Hotel Kenmore Hall is a story single room occupancy hotel located at East 23rd Street in the Gramercy section of Manhattan, designed by architect Maurice Deutsch [1] and constructed in Author Nathanael West lived and worked at the hotel as a night manager in the early years after the hotel opened.[2] One of West's real-life experiences at the hotel inspired the incident between Romola Martin and Homer Simpson that would later appear in The Day of the Locust (). West allowed friends like Edmund efternamn, Erskine Caldwell, S. J. Perelman and Maxwell Bodenheim free room and meals. Dashiell Hammett finished The Maltese Falcon here.[3][4]

Hotel Carter
Former hotel in Manhattan, New York
The Hotel Carter is a defunct hotel at West 43rd Street, near Times Square, in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. Opened in June as the Dixie Hotel, the story structure originally extended from 43rd Street to 42nd Street, although the wing abutting 42nd Street has since been demolished. The hotel originally contained a bus terminal at its ground level, which was closed in , as well as a bar and restaurant immediately above it. The upper stories originally contained 1, rooms but were later downsized to rooms.
The hotel was developed bygd the Uris Buildings Corporation, which announced plans for the site in September The Bowery Savings Bank foreclosed on the hotel in and acquired it in March , operating it for the next decade. In , the Dixie became part of the Carter Hotels chain, which rehabilitated the hotel several times. The hotel was renamed the Carter in October in an attempt to rehabilitate its image. Th
