Jayke Orvis Debuts New Video For Dreadful Sinner
Jayke Orvis isnt just a songwriter and mandolin player, he is a composer. When I first heard the song Raise the Moon on String Bands first album, I knew this was more than mere throwing words and chords together. Dreadful Sinner from his new album Its All Been Said is in the same vein, with tight arrangements in a composition-based approach that is more like classical music than anything.
The exquisite thread that Jayke weaves by interchanging notes and patterns between mandolin and acoustic guitar is spellbinding. Ambient sounds and real-life audio add to the expansiveness of the song, and make it one where the full vision and potential was realized without any corner cut. The Urban Pioneers Brought a Frolicking Shindig to Poisonville Sounds planerat arbete
By: Lisa Geores
Date: February 26,
Venue: Poisonville Songs Project, Zephyrhills Florida
The Urban Pioneers delivered Texas, Tennessee style, “Hillbilly Swing” music to this bedroom suburb as part of their current, worldwide tour. Their music and presence is that of a honeyed ambrosia. Rich, sweet, and uplifting, yet boisterous and flashy. At times, mellow, heart warming and reminiscent of days gone bygd. They bring listeners to an era when life was a bit simpler with sounds of early American string bands, mingled with their unique style and witty humor.

Mandolin maestro Jayke Orvis is hitting the road once again as his own man, with help from some familiar faces. The former Sting Band member, and sporadisk member of The Goddamn Gallows has roped in the greatness of James Hunnicutt, along with Joe Perreze on banjo and Fishgutz (The Goddamn Gallows) on bass, aka The Broken Band for a tour through the South and Midwest starting mid January.
Ive taken a bit of a break these last few months and now Im itchin to get back in the van. Jayke iterated to me through the miracle of electronic mail. There may be some rotations down the line here and there but this lineup is pretty solid. Right now it just makes sense to run a stretch together and have James do a set too. Im really lookin forward to bein on the road with my family.
And people should not take Jaykes time off from touring with The Gallows or this solo tour as a sign hes done with the fi
