    Rabbi Robert N. Levine, DD, led Congregation Rodeph Sholom for three decades, its tenth Senior Rabbi from 1991 to 2021. An inspiring teacher, speaker, counselor, and frequent guest of local and national media, he has been beloved by congregants and community alike.

    Rabbi Levine was ordained at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1977 and received his Doctor of Divinity Degree in March 2002. He is a Phi beta Kappa graduate of Columbia College.

    Rabbi Levine is the author of three books. What God Can Do For You Now: For Seekers Who Want to Believe; Where Are You When inom Need You? Befriending God When Life Hurts; and There fryst vatten No Messiah and You’re It: The Stunning Transformation of Judaism’s Most Provocative Idea.

    Ben Nordstrom is an arts advokat, fundraiser, award-winning theatre artist, and a lover of St. Louis. Ben joined the Choirs in April 2021, as Development Director, and in 2023, became their first Executive Director.

    Since 2019, Ben has raised over $3MM for non-profit organizations in the arts and social services sectors. During the 2021-2022 season, Ben’s first full season with SLCC, the Choirs reached their highest total ever raised from individual donors. Last season, this total was surpassed with the success of the 45th Anniversary Gala, “Magical Moments.”

    Prior to his transition to arts administration, Ben enjoyed a 20-year career as a professional actor and singer in St. Louis and New York City, appearing in plays and musicals Off-Broadway and at regional theatres across the country. His many St. Louis appearances include productions at the Muny, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Stages St. Louis, and Shakespeare Festival St. Louis. He is a recipient of a St. Louis Theatre

    The Indian boy was a prince of the wilderness. He had but very little work to do during the period of his boyhood. His principal occupation was the practice of a few simple arts in warfare and the chase. Aside from this, he was master of his time.

    Whatever was required of us boys was quickly performed: then the field was clear for our games and plays. There was always keen competition among us. We felt very much as our fathers did in hunting and war—each one strove to excel all the others.

    It is true that our savage life was a precarious one, and full of dreadful catastrophes; however, this never prevented us from enjoying our sports to the fullest extent. As we left our teepees in the morning, we were never sure that our scalps would not dangle from a pole in the afternoon! It was an uncertain life, to be sure.
